If you are interested in buying this aircraft, please fill out the form below. The aircraft is based in San Marcos, TX (KHYI). If you want to schedule a time to see the aircraft, let me know when you’ll be in the area and I’ll contact you to coordinate. I’m not a broker, and I have a full time job (and a new kid), so please understand we may both have to work to accommodate each other’s schedules.
I bought this aircraft without ever actually seeing it in person (although it came with Vladimir Yastremski’s pre-buy thumbs up, which was good enough for me!). I don’t expect you to do the same, but if you are just absolutely sure this is the airplane for you, and you don’t want it to get sold to someone else, a small non-refundable option fee ($500) that will be credited to your purchase should you proceed, plus a 10% escrow deposit (refundable if you decide not to go through with the purchase before the option period is up), and a signed and accepted purchase contract will hold the airplane for 15 days (the option period), at which point you can back out and get your escrow deposit back, amend your offer (i.e require I fix something as a condition of sale), or proceed with the sale. After the 15 days, the escrow deposit is non-refundable as well.
I’m sorry, but no demo flights. It’s a single seat aircraft and I’m not even sure how that would be covered with insurance. If you want to get an idea of how the airplane handles in the air and on the ground, an SU-29 is as close as it gets. If you’ve never flown a high performance aerobatic aircraft before, I recommend you get some time in an Extra 300L or a Pitts S2C before flying this aircraft.
You can download my proposed contract below. It’s modeled after the contract that is used in Texas to sell real estate. It gives you a reasonable time period to have the airplane inspected, have me fix any required squawks, and keep the airplane from being sold out from underneath you. It is also designed to discourage “tire kickers”.
However, if you’ve got another way you’d like to go, I’m all ears. Just keep in mind that without an option fee and deposit, I may decide at any time to take another offer.
I’ve already set up an escrow account with an aviation escrow company, and I will pay all escrow fees for any transaction.
I’m looking forward to helping you get into this awesome aerobatic aircraft. I’ve loved owning it, and I know you will too.
